On August 2, 2010, the State Food and Drug Administration, the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Health jointly issued an announcement, which requires that Mephedrone (4-methylmethcathinone) should be regulated as Category I psychotropic substances as of September 1, 2010 and no institutions or individuals may engage in the experimental research, production, distribution, use, storage, transportation, import/export of Mephedrone without approval.
