Wayne, N.J. – December 10, 2009:Wayne, New Jersey (December 15, 2009) - ISP, a major supplier of ingredients and services for solubility and bioavailability enhancement will participate in the World Drug Delivery and Formulation Conference at Dusseldorf, Germany, January 26-27. Senior ISP Scientists and Business Managers will be available to discuss in one-to-one meetings the formulation challenges and solutions associated with small molecule drugs. Registered attendees may schedule a meeting by visiting the conference web site at ddfevent.com, or by contacting John Fitzpatrick, Sr. New Business Development Manager, EMEA.

It has been widely estimated that 40-60% of drugs in development have poor bioavailability due to low aqueous solubility. Poor bioavailability results in decreased efficacy, increased inter- and intra-patient variability and side effects, and higher dosages that reduce patient compliance and increase cost. “The ability to improve drug solubility and, hence, bioavailability through formulation and process technology is critical to improving a drug product’s efficacy and safety and to reducing its cost. ISP is committed to working with drug formulation scientists to address today’s drug solubility challenges with our novel excipients, formulation development services and manufacturing services,” said Dr. Tim Bee, Sr. Technical and Business Development Director, Pharmaceuticals.
